My husband was a resident of Oakwood Residence. He had the worst experience there that anyone could ever have. Some of the staff members were good, but the majority of them were poor.

I had a private room with a shared bathroom with my neighbor in the adjacent rooms. They have two rooms with a bathroom between them, and we shared the bathroom. The medical staff was good, and so was the hospitality team that delivered in trays at mealtime.

I often questioned why someone would take such a job if they weren’t dedicated to it. The only reason I didn’t give them 1 star is that neither of my parents were abused physically. It was a nice little recreation room. Once you get settled in and comfortable, you start adjusting and it starts feeling like home. The facility is filled with care and great people. It was well kept, and they seemed to be on top of everything there. I had to walk through the hallway to get to her room. I think she was up on the 6th floor.
I would say the facility is their best feature. The nursing care that my friend got at Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park was very poor. I like the way the rooms were set up because the twin rooms have a wall that partitions the two beds. So it almost felt like you had your own room. They need to improve their nursing care and they need more staff.
